Sar Pass is situated in the Parvati Valley of Himachal Pradesh, a moderately challenging trek. at an altitude of 14000 ft, it can be considered as a great introduction to high altitude trekking. Sar, in the local dialect, means lake. Being in Kanawar Wildlife Sanctuary, it’s paradise for the birdwatcher.
TOUCH-BASE : River Raga, Tegdi, Manikaran
GRAHAN (3170 M)
Trek starts at Kasol. Trek along beautiful Grahan Nala for 10 km. to reach Grahan. A religious village of sixty families. The village is wine free. Camping beyond the village premises is allowed.
MING THACH (2500M)
The next halt is 7km trek at Ming Thatch. The trek becomes more challenging as it involves a steep gradient. Trekkers’ fall in love with its placid splendor.
Next up, you reach Nagaru, located at 12,500 ft. above sea level. It is a short trek from Ming Thatch of 5 km taking about 3 hours. where one can see the spellbinding colors of the horizon, especially at sunset.
BISHKERI THATCH VIA SAR PASS
Climb to Tilotan Top, the highest point of the trail at 13,800 ft. It is generally covered in snow with frequent snowfalls even during May. After a long descent, you arrive at Biskeri Thatch at 11,000 ft.
Finally, descend to Pulga, an easy descend from Biskeri thatch taking 4-5 hours. It’s a 30 m walk from Pulga to Barshaini. Trek ends here.
